A POCSO court in Dhanbad today awarded 20 years imprisonment to one Md Ezaj Khan (30), a resident of Wasseypur, accused of raping a minor a year ago.
Special POCSO court judge Prabhakar Singh also imposed a penalty of Rs 12,000 on the accused. The court found him guilty in the case on Friday and handed down the quantitative punishment today.
According to the FIR filed at Bank More police station in the district on 6 December 2022, Ezaj, who was already married and a neighbor of the victim, took the minor girl to Mumbai on 27 November 2022 early in the morning.
The accused sexually abused the girl and returned after the victim's guardian filed an FIR against him at the police station.
